Sarah Tiana met me at the Comedy Store to talk about her crazy experience with love in the Middle East. It’s sort of a sad story. We’re comics, so it was still funny, but it was still really sad at the same time. So it averages out to sort of sad.

Cry baby – Janis Joplin. Fuck. This song makes me tear up right when she starts.

I cannot wait for the Freddy Mercury movie. Please let Sasha Baron Cohen kill it.

If a girl really did cry at her own party, that would make the party really not fun. Just really. If you do want to cry at your party, go to the bathroom or take a walk around the block to do it.

Here you go, Sarah.

I love Lilly Allen. Fuck you. I don’t care. She’s awesome.

I love the TIANA!! Very funny lady, she doesn’t even need to get nekkid!

  2. Ramond says:

Interesting podcast, but christ that woman is gullible.

  3. Heez says:

Sarah Tiana sounds like a fucking idiot. Getting that involved to the point of talking about marriage & moving in together after a couple days of knowing someone?!? How fucking desperate is she? Retard.

  4. Anon says:

Totally agree with Heez. I feel bad that Sarah got so emotional, but come the fuck on. After ONE WEEK she agreed to marriage? Didn’t get all the red flags? STILL is thinking about this and keeping the drama fresh and alive? IT sounded like Natasha Leggero’s story when she flew to Australia to live with a guy because… He was rich and nice. Same with Sarah, except she kissed him once and then kept the drama and ignorance alive. I’m sorry Ari, love the podcast but I can’t believe anyone could be so fucking dumb.

  5. elise says:

I thought she was moving a little too fast too until she told the story of the abusive ex…she had finally opened up to the possibility of meeting someone new and seemed to find a guy with real long-term compatibility, and to have this happen? That SUCKS. Plus it’s all very fresh. I feel badly for her.

  6. Josh says:

I found this to be a very touching and heart-breaking episode. I feel for Sarah. I’ve had the misfortune of meeting a pathological liar or two in my life, and when you discover that EVERYTHING you’ve been told is total bullshit, it is quite shocking.

It’s clear that Sarah was naive and gullible in meeting this Derek Freeman, but she obviously learned a lesson: not to confuse fantasy with reality. She believed all his Special Forces bullshit because she wanted to. She wanted the Perfect Man. Unfortunately, he does not exist. Whenever someone seems too good to be true – they ARE.

I’ve never heard a woman cry like that on a podcast, and it definitely affected me. I’ve been in shitty relationships that have taken me years to get over. I guess you forget that women get royally fucked over as well.

Ari, I love your podcast. You “keep shit real”. I love your in-depth interviews. You are the Man. Sarah, I’m sorry about what happened but I know you will get through it.

  7. Al says:

Sarah might still being showing naivety in believing that Derrick is worrying/stressing about the lack of contact. She seems like a passionate person, full of life, and doesn’t fully appreciate the internal world of a really shallow person. I seriously doubt that the guy is feeling more than a pinch of ego.

  8. Al says:

By the way, Ari, you don’t think that Jen Kirkman is funny? I’ve seen her do well at The Laugh Factory and Meltdown Theater. Were you referring to her standup or to the deeply unfunny twitter rants?

  9. Ryan Saskatchewan says:

I can’t believe some of the negative comments on here. This was probably one of the best podcasts so far. If anyone remembers, Sarah was talking about this guy on the Ice House Chronicles a while back. Come on, we’ve all been swept off of our feet and been taken for a ride at one time or another. If you say you haven’t, you’re a liar. Hearing Sarah cry like that was heartbreaking because it was so fucking REAL. But props to her for figuring things out for herself, and turning the tables on the dude and manipulating him. I want to know more about how this story turns out. Awesome podcast.

  10. Jason S says:

I’m sorry, C’mon people, If this doesn’t sound like an attempt to gain sympathy than I don’t know what is.. She is crying about some guy she kissed one time and knew for 5 hours. HOLY SHIT. She made herself look like more of an idiot than the guy did. Guys have sex with chicks and are devious everyday and don’t get blasted publicly for it.. Not saying that it’s right but this guy didn’t do anything worse than the next guy trying to get a hot chick except he didn’t even sleep with her or get anything from her, if anything she was asking him for money!! THAT IS REAL TALK- Sounds like someone wants some attention. No matter whether this guys was really Special Forces or not he is still overseas working for the government in some capacity and has to travel abroad. BAD ON YOU. Think about others safety before you think only in yourself.. Other than that. Great podcast Ari

  11. Mgf says:

Aw. She seems like such a sweet person. That dude that fooled her is a douche.

  12. Jordan says:

The hate is strong in these comments. Al’s comments best, she’s still obsessing over what he is thinking about her. It’s tough breaking up with a fairy tail, *single tear.

For me, what is up with her mindless support of the military? Cutting military in any way will hurt all of us because everyone is affected by companies that make stuff… That’s some logic. Others who are currently affected, people we kill, their families, and all the people who have to clean up or live around all the buildings and roads we blow up.

Fucking moron warmongers, it’s been like 11 years of war (October 7, 2001). My uncle’s a general, he does god’s work.

  13. Emma says:

Heez and Anon hit it right on the head. Sarah Tiana is a fucking moron! She is keeping this fresh and alive so that she can publicly trash this guy who has no way to defend himself. I have seen Sarah Tiana do stand up and its all about bashing men and sex which Im sure really gives a guy a great impression of a classy lady. I was even a follower of her’s on Twitter but due to her recent obsession over this guy I will not be following her anymore or continue to be a fan and I hope others follow in my footsteps as it’s clear Sarah is obsessed and acting like a psycho. You are bashing somebody who has no outlet to defend themselves becasue you are a scorned little girl. Get over the situation and move on but more importantly get over yourself Sarah Tiana. I feel like starting a website for this guy just so he can have a voice here as this is completely one sided. Im a woman and think this is complete non sense, what a disspointment.

  14. Al says:

Aside from Sarah Tiana lying in her interview, it’s difficult to see what extenuating circumstances could lead to a conclusion other than the guy was a sociopath.

  15. anon says:

Thank you Sarah for being so brave and honest on this podcast it was gripping.

  16. Erica says:

Does anyone remember episode 54 – Casual Sex? Sarah came off as the antithesis of the woman she portrayed on episode 73. She was almost arrogant about her views on being in open relationships, the futility of women who wanted to marry, etc. She did have some views that I agreed with, but I recall thinking how artificial her persona seemed.

Fast forward to this interview- she was just as ridiculous as the women she berated in the prior podcast. She comes off as very naive, and tends to play the victim. Sure we’ve all been in negative relationships. However, if you have such a horrible relationship pattern, you have to take a look at the common denominator- YOU.
